Building permit

The construction permit is the document which authorises the holder to carry out construction activities, authorising him/her to execute the works included in the qualifications listed in the permit.

The permits are made up of classes (financial capacity) and categories (technical capacity)

Any citizen or company can search for a building permit via the internet, free of charge.

As of 15 January 2011, the building permit is no longer provided to companies in paper format. In replacement of the physical support, there is now a dematerialised title, in PDF format, placed in the company's reserved area in the portal of the Institute of Public Markets, Real Estate and Construction, I.P. (IMPIC, I.P.).

The proof of ownership of permits and registration certificates, within the scope of contract formation processes, shall be verified, by the contracting and licensing entities, through IMPIC's website.

The search for companies may be carried out by name/company name, tax identification number (NIF/NIPC), permit number, municipality or district of the company's headquarters and by type of works and value of works (maximum class).
